Vargas beats Kameda by unanimous decision

July 13 2019: Carson, USA

WBC super bantamweight champion Rey Vargas retained his title with an unanimous
decision victory over Tomoki Kameda. The decision was roundly booed despite it
being a largely pro-Vargas crowd in attendance. Vargas played it safe, flicking
his jab while Kameda charged forward. In the final round Kameda was deducted a
point for hitting on the break. All three judges scored it the same, 117-110, for Vargas.
